Sometime between 10:30PM January 25th and 5:30AM the 26th of 2020 . . . I received a liver transplant. A gift of continued life came my way because someone had registered as a donor. Just as important, the donor's family did not object. It is my hope that others in need will be able to receive the same gift. But we need more people to donate. Again, just as important, we need donor's families to be on board. So, after your register as a donor, go have a discussion with members of your family. Let the know that you understand they will be grieving, but it has made you happy to know that, when you don't need them any longer, your tissues and organs will help benefit the life of another. As a transplant recipient, I can tell you that the gift is indeed life changing . . . and appreciated in a way that can't be reduced to words. I got to see my first grandchild. I'm now planning to see any more that arrive. There is that Jeep above, it was a project that kept occupied while I dealt with liver cancer and waited to see if I would receive a liver. Now I will be able to take that Jeep it on a bucket list trip to run the Rubicon Trail in California. I'm going to do that trip. No matter what it takes! I am not to going to waste the extended life I was gifted not having some fun. I will try to be productive, but I will also make sure to enjoy life; appreciate my existence.
