Donor Registrations

REGISTER. TELL YOUR FAMILY. BE INSPIRED.
On April 6, 2018, the Humboldt Broncos, a Canadian hockey team, was in a bus crash. Of the 29 passengers, sixteen died including defenseman Logan Boulet. As an organ donor, Logan saved six lives. Before his death, Logan told his parents he was inspired to register as an organ donor because when his mentor and coach, Ric Suggitt, died in 2017, he was himself an organ donor, saving 6 lives. As news spread, 150,000 people registered to become organ donors. To date, this is the largest number of Canadians registering to become organ donors in history due to one event – one person. Today, it’s known world-wide as the “Logan Boulet Effect”. This upswing in registrations inspired Green Shirt Day, which each year on April 7th, marks the fatal crash and recognizes Logan’s legacy to inspire more people to register as organ and tissue donors.
